SLOVAKIA – USA – DENMARK: A RESEARCH JOURNEY OF PETER
We’ve got another scientist in our midst! Tune in to the 41st episode of Humans of SDU and meet Peter – a researcher from Slovakia who has lived in the US and Canada for many years and who now does his research in experimental surgery at the University of Southern Denmark.

How did we find Peter?

Martin works in a pizzeria and he noticed Peter was a regular customer of theirs (Margherita extra does wonders). However, both of them being foreigners, they never really wondered more about each other. Until once, Peter came also with his wife and guess what, they spoke Slovak together.
For non-Slavic readers, Slovak and Czech, which is a mother tongue of Martin, are fairly similar to each other and we understand one another without any bigger issues. So it is no wonder that it gave Martin and Peter a smooth start to their friendship.
“The end result is that I don’t really fit anywhere. But other than that, it was a very exciting life and I am fond of the memories. I wouldn’t change it for anything.”

Later on, he invited also Anna and Miška to these conversations, Peter brought his wife Katarina and we set off on a trip together, ate some lovely dinners, and… asked once, asked twice, asked three times – and here we go! A wonderful episode!
